Five Reasons to Go Back to School

For us super busy Knoxville moms, thinking about going back to school can be daunting. There are so many questions to consider: “Will I still have enough time with my kids?” “What do I want to study?” “Will I even have time to study?” “Will it be worth it?”

Five Reasons to Go Back to School

Virginia College in Knoxville wants to help you answer these questions and take that first step – higher education – towards your dream career. Virginia College in Knoxville offers accelerated programs that combine flexible class schedules and professional instruction, creating a rewarding and accommodating learning environment for busy parents. If you are on the fence about going back to school, here are five reasons to take the plunge:

Your dreams matter:

As moms, sometimes we set our professional dreams aside to focus on our family. And while prioritizing family is important, it doesn’t mean you can’t follow your dreams. Perhaps you’ve always aspired to work in healthcare or business. Education is the first step towards pursuing your dreams.

A more fulfilling career exists:

Maybe you’re not 100% satisfied in your current job. Perhaps you’re more passionate about another industry or field. Whatever reason, a degree in a new field could help you land the job that will make you excited to go to work every day.

Second chances are real:

Did you go to a big college and realize it wasn’t for you? Did you start a degree and then stop due to family and work obligations? You’re not alone. It’s never too late to take a second chance on achieving your educational goals.

Show your kids the importance of learning:

You are never too old or too busy to learn something new. Going back to school to pursue a passion lets you teach that lesson to your kids by example.

Now may be the best time to pursue education:

There will always be a reason to not take that first step – kids, family, work, outside obligations – but, as they say, there’s no time like the present. You deserve to take this step towards a new career, towards your dreams. All you have to do is take that step!

Over 20 years ago, I moved to Knoxville and fell in love with the city that has now truly become my home. Shortly after moving here, I married my college sweetheart, and when not working we set out to travel as much as we could. After working as a financial manager for six years, I welcomed my first son in 2010 and began a journey as a stay-at-home mom. Two years later we added another baby boy to make us a family of four. In June 2016, we welcomed our third son. I founded Knoxville Moms in November 2013 which began my career as a work-from-home mom, and it grew to the expansion of Chattanooga Moms in March 2016. We welcomed our first girl in November 2017 making us a family of six and adding a little pink in our house. In June 2021, I became the co-owner of the Atlanta Mom website, and in March 2022 I became the owner of the Nashville Moms parenting website. When I'm not carpooling the kids to sports and activities, you can find me enjoying a cup of coffee, reading a good book, and dreaming about my toes in the sand. I enjoy meeting new people and enjoy connecting the moms of Knoxville, Chattanooga, Atlanta, and Nashville.
