The Simplicity of French Beauty: The Perfect Routine for a Busy Mama
{One of the many busy pharmacies in Paris.}

When I visited Paris last summer, I fell in love with the simplicity of French beauty and style. French women always looks beautiful and make it effortless. If you’re looking for a complete beauty overhaul, look no further than the collection of incredible French drugstore beauty products.

France is known for their best-kept beauty secrets, and these French beauty secrets (aka drugstore products) can be found all over their pharmacy shelves. Fortunately, the world is quickly becoming a very connected place, and you can get French pharmacy beauty products at home. I have never seen a busier place to buy beauty products than a French pharmacy; it was like an after Christmas sale in the States. And while the packaging isn’t all pretty, what’s inside is absolutely amazing. In fact, it’s so amazing that many big name beauty companies go to the French pharmacies to duplicate their formulas.

After going to multiple pharmacies in Paris and studying their amazing style, here are a few of the favorite things I learned:

  • They take amazing care of their skin. The secret to beautiful skin is drinking lots of water and applying SPF. One of the sunscreens they were grabbing off the shelf were by La Roche Posay. It melts into your skin and doesn’t leave a white residue. I have started to see the brand appear locally in Walgreens and even more recently, the sunscreen in Costco. Any products with in the La Roche Posay line I have tried, I love. Some I just can’t find just yet in the US.
  • They don’t strip their skin with harsh cleansers. Bioderma Micellar Cleansing Water must be on every French woman’s shelf at the rate it was sold. There was someone dedicated just to stocking this product it sold so fast. Another favorite is A’vene Thermal Water for a quick refresh during the day or to quiet facial redness. I love using this to blend makeup and a quick mid-day refresh — it gives a pretty glow to your skin.
  • They hydrate their body after a shower. Nuxe Dry Oil is a great all over body oil, cuticles and works well in the hair for frizzy ends. I also use this in my bath. Multi-tasking products are always a favorite with French women to cut down time in their routine.
  • French women embrace their natural locks. In fact, they prefer to wash their hair as little as possible. To achieve this elevated bed head style, they use cult favorite and staple Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oatmilk. Karl Lagerfeld used it in all of his fashion shows.

After taking care of their skin so well, all they do is swipe on some signature red lipstick with their finger and mascara to keep their look pulled together.

As a busy working Mom, I love the simplicity and timeless appeal of this beauty routine. What’s your favorite way to simplify your beauty routine?
