Looking for a Sister Wife

0

I don’t know much about sister wives and how that whole thing works, but I think they may be on to something. If a group of women can come together and split the work, then maybe it is worth considering.

Maybe we all need a sister wife.

Being a mom is tough. It’s the most amazing thing, and that is never up for debate. Also not up for debate is how hard it is. I think moms have always had it hard and have always had to work hard for their families. The challenge of our present day is the mentality that we can “have it all,” but we all know that we actually can’t. We can’t be all in at work and all in at home all the time. We can’t pick everyone up from everywhere and take them to all their practices, games, performances, and social events and still be able to cook a delicious, healthy, well-balanced, made from scratch dinner every night. We can’t be at that important meeting and take the kids to the dentist at the same time. We can’t be at our oldest child’s musical at school while our youngest has a gymnastics meet. We can do a lot, but we can’t do it all.

Enter the sister wife.

My friend is awesome at fixing her family dinner every night, while I’m awesome at the Chick-fil-A drive thru. She always has clean underwear for her husband and clean, matching clothes for her kids. They don’t even have the wrinkle lines from being piled up in the clean laundry pile for days. She is really good at crafts and I am allergic to them. I on the other hand, don’t mind driving my kids around while she despises chauffeuring. I don’t mind to help with homework and I’m pretty good at hitting all the appointments and meetings. We could balance each other out as one mega-mom.

This is where I see how having another mama around would be so helpful. Someone with whom to split the to-do list and share some of the tasks, especially the ones that I really struggle with. If we need to add in a couple more mamas to balance out everything, that might work, too. The key is being helpful and drama-free because we all know drama only makes things worse.

So I am on the hunt for my sister wife. If you see someone with excellent skills as a mom and preferably a good friend, send her my way.

PS: my husband is not part of the package.

Lauren
Hey y’all! I’m Lauren and it’s so nice to meet you! I’m married to my college sweetheart and am a mama to four precious children. Three of my children are here with me and one is in Heaven. Our second child passed away shortly after birth. My husband, Tommy, and I have adopted two girls out of foster care, and we are constantly learning how to be the best parents to all of our kids with their special needs. About a year after our son passed away, I launched Project Gabriel in honor of our son to reach women who had also lost a baby. In my free time, I love cheering on the Tennessee Vols, expressing my love of Tennessee falls, being outside, blogging, and wearing boots. I blog at Adventures of Jack and Me. Also check out my organization Project Gabriel.
