A local program wants to make art and culture available to children in Knox County and beyond. The Arts & Cultural Alliance of Greater Knoxville started Penny4Arts with the goal of serving and educating East Tennessee’s children. Eleven years later, the mission is still going strong.

How Does It Work?

Penny4Arts gives children in our area the opportunity to attend local arts and culture events/activities at the maximum cost of one penny or FREE when accompanied by a paying adult. Concerts, plays, dance performances, museums, festivals, historic home tours, and live radio broadcasts are part of Penny4Arts.

Who Can Participate?

Penny4Arts provides kids in the counties listed below with the opportunity to attend events. Most organizations allow up to three children to attend for free.

Anderson County
Blount County
Campbell County
Knox County
Loudon County
Monroe County
Roane County
Scott County
Sevier County
Union County

When & Where are the Events?

More than 100 events are included in Penny4Arts throughout the year. A complete schedule of Penny4Arts performances can be found here. Here are some of the highlights:

Knoxville Symphony Orchestra: Eight Masterworks & Four Chamber Concerts
Knoxville Opera: Three Performances
Bijou Theatre: Live Concerts
Circle Modern Dance & Momentum Dance Lab: Contemporary Dance Performances
Clarence Brown Theatre: Live, Age-Appropriate Theatre on UT Campus

In addition to the individual Penny4Arts events, there are year-round programs. The Knoxville Museum of Art, James White Fort and the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame are just some of the year-round participants.
