Fashion Tips from NEIGHBORHOOD barre

We’re officially on the cusp of swim-suit season, which has us headed straight to the studio to tighten up before spring break. Taking an hour out of your day to workout means oftentimes we end up wearing our workout gear for most of the day – which can pose a problem if your wardrobe consists of wind-pants and white Reebok high tops (y’all know what I’m talking about #notjudging). The ladies of Neighborhood Barre are here to keep you comfortable, stylish and bring you styles that are a justifiable studio to street purchase!

If you can’t tell, we love Beyond Yoga at NEIGHBORHOOD barre and for a multitude of reasons – it is stylish, made in the USA and offers the perfect carryover from studio to street. The quality is top-notch, holding true to the ‘you pay for what you get’ saying. One of our main focuses when selecting pieces for the studio is simply how easy the style can transition out of class and into your wardrobe. We have pulled three different outfits that we felt were functional yet fashionable.

The first look we pulled focused on navy, because it truly is a color that is flattering on everyone and easily transitions into spring. We paired this outfit with a lightweight scarf to expose the back detail on the top, but if you desire more coverage a cardigan is an easy swap in lieu of the scarf. The crops really speak for themselves, because not only are they effortlessly cute; they are extremely soft. We also like that these are a low-calf length, which makes them workable from Uggs to flop-flops.

The second outfit we chose borders more on the sporty side, but you can easily swap the sneakers for boots. We love the mesh detailing in this tank because while it looks great in class, we think it could easily pair with white skinny jeans or denim shorts. You can jazz it up with a colored bra that will barely show through the mesh detail, or keep it monochromatic with black on black. Again, we feature the Space Dye Leggings (a studio fave), only in a full-length black and white version. Our favorite street sneak? Nike and New Balance throw back styles (available at jcrew.com).

Our third and final look is a great ‘wear now’ outfit. It pairs perfectly with your favorite Uggs, but can easily be worn with flats or flops later in the season. We love this tunic because again you have the option to mix and match this top with skinny jeans after class. The Beyond Yoga leggings have a great quilted texture that gives you the ability to dress up your outfit and the open X back of the tunic allows to be creative with your top or sports bra. You could also pair the quilted leggings with a chunky sweater and boots for a great cozy day-time look.

Over 20 years ago, I moved to Knoxville and fell in love with the city that has now truly become my home. Shortly after moving here, I married my college sweetheart, and when not working we set out to travel as much as we could. After working as a financial manager for six years, I welcomed my first son in 2010 and began a journey as a stay-at-home mom. Two years later we added another baby boy to make us a family of four. In June 2016, we welcomed our third son. I founded Knoxville Moms in November 2013 which began my career as a work-from-home mom, and it grew to the expansion of Chattanooga Moms in March 2016. We welcomed our first girl in November 2017 making us a family of six and adding a little pink in our house. In June 2021, I became the co-owner of the Atlanta Mom website, and in March 2022 I became the owner of the Nashville Moms parenting website. When I'm not carpooling the kids to sports and activities, you can find me enjoying a cup of coffee, reading a good book, and dreaming about my toes in the sand. I enjoy meeting new people and enjoy connecting the moms of Knoxville, Chattanooga, Atlanta, and Nashville.
