My family recently took a day trip to the top of beautiful Anakeesta mountain, where peaceful gardens, breathtaking views, mouthwatering fare, and treetop adventures awaited us.
As part of our admission, we began the day riding the Chondola up the mountainside. We loved that there were the options of a large chair lift, an enclosed gondola, or an open-air safari truck. Even the most wary traveler can escape the bustle of the city below and be whisked away to the adorable Firefly Village high above.
When we arrived at the top, Autumn had already begun to touch the Anakeesta Theme Park with pumpkins aglow, smoke rising from playful Halloween decorations, and Fall leaves draping entryways. The smell of pumpkin spice was already in the air and the promise of cooler weather was felt in the cool morning breeze.
A few family favorites were the many playgrounds where children climbed, ran, slid, and swung through the trees. Our adventurous kids were in heaven with all of the log bridges and climbing areas dotted throughout the park. My husband, on the other hand, enjoyed the steep downhill thrills of the Rail Runner mountain coaster! He even plans to sign us up for ziplining on our next visit. We can’t wait! Mommy’s favorite, however, was the leisurely walk through the peaceful gardens below the Anavista tower and the incredible 360 views of the mountains. It was truly one of our most memorable family day trips in a long time!
Afterwards we all agreed that Anakeesta is the ideal location if you only have a short time to visit Pigeon Forge. We will be returning with Grandparents soon! Not only can you enjoy the mountains and forests of East Tennessee from every point in the park, it also boasts some incredible restaurants, quaint shopping, and a relaxed family atmosphere that you don’t find in most tourist attractions.
The real draw for us, however, was the versatility of Anakeesta as a whole family destination. For children, it is a place of wonder, magic, and tree top play. For parents and teens it can provide a day of adventure, specialty food and drinks, and a time to unplug and connect with nature. As for any older adult, Anakeesta is incredibly accessible. It is not a huge, sprawling theme park. There are literally hundreds of rocking chairs, gently wandering paths, and plenty of shady patios to take in the vistas while your children adventure the day away. Anakeesta is magical for everyone.
So whether you are planning a quick weekend getaway or a grand East Tennessee adventure, Anakeesta will soon become one of your family’s most beloved Autumn destinations!
