Books You Want To Read This SummerThere is something about reading in the summer. Maybe it’s the warm sun or the longer days. Whatever it is, I’m here with the best book recommendations this summer:

1. Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry. The author has been open that this book draws inspiration from Taylor Swift song, The Last Great American Dynasty. Two writers battle for the opportunity to write the biography for an heiress who hasn’t been seen in years and has a complicated past. Tropes include enemies to lovers and romance. If you like romance novels this needs to be a must read.

2. Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez. A contemporary heartfelt romance, Abby Jimenez intertwines love, distance, emotion, and reality. This book is a wonderful read to leave you on a book hangover.

3. The Perfect Divorce by Jeneva Rose. This is book two of the Perfect Series, 11 years after Sarah Morgan defended her husband who was charged with murdering his mistress. She has moved on with a new family, but is faced with a new challenge. This suspenseful novel is a true page turner. If you’re interested in this novel, The Perfect Marriage is the first book in this series.

4. The Tenant by Freida McFadden. Freida McFadden has a cult following. Her newest novel is set to release May . Blake Porter, fired from his job, can’t find a way to pay his rent…until he finds a new tenant. Will it be too late for Blake when he realizes there may be dangers and secrets in his own home?

5. Parents Weekend by Alex Finlay. It’s parent’s weekend at a small private college in California. When five of the students go missing, the parents must call campus security. This novel is told in multiple points of view through the past and present. These twists and turns make it impossible to put the book down.

6. Don’t Let Him In by Lisa Jewel. Three women all connected by one man. As the story unfolds, the lives of these women converge, revealing dark secrets. Lisa Jewell masterfully weaves suspense in all of her stories. She is one of my favorite authors and I cannot wait to get my hands on this one. This novel is set to release June 24.

7. Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry. Calling all fans of Sarah J. Maas and Rebecca Yarros, this one is for you. This book has it all: fantasy, enemies to lovers, and a strong and independent leading female. We are here for it. Set to release May 6.

8. Not Quite Dead Yet by Holly Jackson. From the author of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, comes her newest novel and it’s for adults. In seven days, Jet Mason will be dead. After a violent attack, she is left with an injury that will lead to her death in seven days. What are her plans for her remaining days? To solve her own murder.

9. Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Set during NASA’s 1980s Space Shuttle program, this novel follows Joan, a physics and astronomy professor. Selected from a pool of thousands of applicants, Joan begins training at Houston’s Johnson Space Center. In December of 1984, on a mission, everything changes in an instant. Set to release June 3.

10. One Golden Summer by Carly Fourtune. From the same author who brought us Every Summer After. Alice, a photographer, decides to spend the summer with her grandmother after a bad breakup and career burnout. This novel captures the magic of summer, resists past relationships, and how life can bring unexpected turns.

11. Boysick by Meredith Mincey. (Shoutout to a local author) It’s the first day of their junior year of high school and best friends Marlowe and Lenny fully embrace their new upperclassmen status. Each year Marlowe vows to find The One, tired of being the single best friend. A scheme to make another girl jealous Marlowe has a hard time determining what is real and what is fake. This YA novel is set to release May 25th. You can preorder through a local mobile bookstore, Good Girl Books.

Whether you’re lounging on the beach, relaxing by the pool, or simply escaping the heat with a good book in your hand, this summer line-up is full of unforgettable reads!

Kailey Ryan
Hi, my name is Kailey. I am a Registered Nurse turned high school Health Science Teacher. I am a proud wife and mom of 1. My sweet Brady (any football fans?) was born in August 2018. I am a Knoxville native and absolutely love the area. Where else can you drive to a beach, major city, or mountains in less than 6 hours? I married my husband in May 2017, we have known each other since he was 16. I love all things true crime, Disney, crafts, and Mexican food . If we aren't at work you will find us traveling or planning our next trip. We have a passion for traveling and our goal is to visit all 50 states. I do also work as a travel agent. I absolutely love planning vacations for families. I have been a travel agent since 2016. At the end of the day all we have left are memories, I make sure each and every family creates lasting memories. I'm most certainly not an expert on being a mom, but I hope to add some experiences and outlooks being a "millennial mom".
