The mission of The Episcopal School of Knoxville is to prepare JK-8 students for higher education and a lifetime of learning within the context of a loving, inclusive and family-centered community. We enrich our students’ intellectual, physical, cultural and spiritual growth so that they may realize their potential as children of God and citizens of the world.

In addition to maintaining high academic standards and a student/teacher ratio of 9 to 1, The Episcopal School of Knoxville believes in educating the whole child through core academics of Literature, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies but also instruction in Religion, Character Education through Tribes, and Community Service. We take pride in a warm, family-centered environment that provides our students with the emotional security necessary to achieve their full potential as students and as citizens.

The Episcopal School of Knoxville is committed to both the academic excellence and the personal growth of our students. Small classes, combined with the talents of the finest teachers in this region, allows us to nurture our students’ natural curiosity and enthusiasm. We believe that meaningful learning comes from collaboration, problem-solving and making connections, so our approach to learning is interdisciplinary.

ESKTeachers from both our lower and middle schools work together to present a balanced and lively curriculum. Our course of study includes a literary based language arts program, the University of Chicago’s Everyday Math through fifth grade, experiential laboratory science, and social studies. World language instruction in Spanish and Mandarin begins in Junior Kindergarten with the option of Latin, Spanish or Mandarin in the Middle School.

In a school day filled with exploration and creativity, children master skills that will serve them throughout life. Whether in the classroom, on the playground, or at the lunch table, every activity is an opportunity for learning life skills. ESK gives students the space, time, and encouragement to discover the joys of learning in an active environment that offers more than just the basics in literature, math, science, and social studies.

An academic program rich in opportunity for intellectual exploration and discovery, as well as creative expression, The Episcopal School of Knoxville recognizes our goal is to prepare students to walk confidently through the doors of the high school of their choosing. Mastering an essential core of knowledge, enhancing critical thinking skills, and developing effective communication strategies are integral components of the ESK experience.

2015-16 marks nineteen years of academic excellence at The Episcopal School of Knoxville. From the founders’ earliest efforts, it is apparent that careful planning, consensus building and community outreach have helped pave the way for the school’s success. The blessings of talented youth, willing volunteers, generous gifts, dedicated faculty and staff, community support and engaged parents all have made The Episcopal School of Knoxville an important member of the independent school community in East Tennessee.

Over 20 years ago, I moved to Knoxville and fell in love with the city that has now truly become my home. Shortly after moving here, I married my college sweetheart, and when not working we set out to travel as much as we could. After working as a financial manager for six years, I welcomed my first son in 2010 and began a journey as a stay-at-home mom. Two years later we added another baby boy to make us a family of four. In June 2016, we welcomed our third son. I founded Knoxville Moms in November 2013 which began my career as a work-from-home mom, and it grew to the expansion of Chattanooga Moms in March 2016. We welcomed our first girl in November 2017 making us a family of six and adding a little pink in our house. In June 2021, I became the co-owner of the Atlanta Mom website, and in March 2022 I became the owner of the Nashville Moms parenting website. When I'm not carpooling the kids to sports and activities, you can find me enjoying a cup of coffee, reading a good book, and dreaming about my toes in the sand. I enjoy meeting new people and enjoy connecting the moms of Knoxville, Chattanooga, Atlanta, and Nashville.
