Sevierville’s Annual Winterfest

0

Smoky Mountain Winterfest has brightened the nights in Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg for thirty-three years. With 15 million lights decorating the famed Parkway through all three cities, plus great holiday light attractions, there are plenty of ways to celebrate the winter season in Sevierville this year.

See the lights!

Displays are hard to miss and can be found all along the main roads throughout town. Enjoy fun and whimsical scenes everywhere you look. Use the handy Winterfest light map as a guide or simply explore the town.

Add to the fun with a visit to one (or both) of Sevierville’s animated light shows – Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland and Shadrack’s Super-Sized Christmas Adventure. Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland is billed as the most immersive light show experience in the world. Now in its thirteenth and final year at Smokies Stadium, show designers have added extra umph with a new 50-foot tree of light surrounded by a gigantic field of dancing lights, as well as bringing back the popular light tunnel and massive 70-foot-tall light tree in the center of it all.

Shadrack's Sevierville:: NEW THIS YEAR ::

Just down the road, Shadrack’s is unveiling a new concept in drive-through holiday light shows. Called Shadrack’s Super-Sized Christmas Adventure, the show combines painted storybook art and digital lighting to pull your family (and your car) into the story! Tickets are limited for this unique new Winterfest experience and must be purchased online in advance. Combo tickets are also available for both shows.

Enjoy new Winterfest experiences!

Pay a visit to SkyLand Ranch, Sevierville’s newest outdoor attraction. Ride the scenic chairlift or van to the mountaintop ranch where you’ll meet cowboys and mini animals – plus enjoy great entertainment and food. Take a ride on the Wild Stallion mountain coaster – currently the longest in the southeast – for a thrilling ride with beautiful views! While the ranch will offer year-round fun, it also has special holiday programming designed for families.

Beginning in mid-November, Santa will welcome guests to join him at SkyLand Santa Village. A special pass will give guests access to this area where they’ll enjoy close visits with miniature animals, games, hot chocolate and cookies, a visit with Santa, a photo package from the visit, and a toy from Williford Mercantile.

Try Ice Skating!

The outdoor ice rink at Wilderness at the Smokies is an exciting addition to Smoky Mountain Winterfest. Tickets (which includes skate rental) are available to both resort guests and members of the public who want to enjoy ice skating. The ice rink is open November 11 – January 15 with several special events – including ice skating demonstrations, Monty’s Youth Skate events, hockey games to watch, and a live DJ playing on Friday and Saturday nights – planned throughout.

The Wildnerness Winter EventsAttend an event!

On Friday, December 2, enjoy Christmas at the Courthouse, a downtown Christmas tree lighting event, from 5:30pm until 8:30pm. Enjoy Christmas music, kids’ activities, photos with Santa, and more.

Sevier County Courthouse Light the TreeThe next day, make plans to attend the 60th Annual Sevierville Christmas Parade (December 3) beginning at 11am. This hometown Christmas Parade is a holiday delight and winds its way through historic downtown Sevierville. Pro parade tip: enjoy optimal parade viewing along Court Avenue.

The Santa Hustle Smokies (December 11) is a 5K and 10k where participants dress like Santa Claus for a run through the streets of Sevierville. Not only is the race attire jolly, so are the Christmas tunes played along the route (and the cookies and candies available at the water stations along the way).
