What’s better than Safety City? Safety City at Christmas! Children of all ages can ride their bicycles or scooters around the miniature version of Knoxville complete with buildings, paved streets and sidewalks, working traffic signals, and traffic signs. Kids and parents alike enjoy picking out area landmarks like the Sunsphere and Neyland Stadium. Now Safety City is decking the halls for an extra special holiday experience! There are lots of opportunities to enjoy the lights and decorations, but keep in mind the dates and times are subject to change depending on the weather. In the spirit of the season, Safety City will be collecting canned goods during the December hours for Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee. For more information, visit the Safety City Facebook page.
The goal of Safety City is to teach children about pedestrian, vehicular, and bicycle safety. This popular spot is courtesy of the Knoxville Police Department and the City of Knoxville. As a reminder, children must have a bicycle helmet to ride at Safety City. Admission is free. If you have any questions, you’re encouraged to call the Safety City office at (865) 215-7103.
