Ever talked a friend in a big city who says, “We have been taking lessons at a swim school since little Sammy was just six-month-old,” and you think to yourself, “How do I even go about finding swim lessons in Knoxville?!” Well, look no further! SafeSplash is Knoxville’s first year-round dedicated swim school, and our permanent facility in Cedar Bluff opens this January!
Well, what exactly is a “swim school”?
Glad you asked! A swim school offers year-round lessons for kids as young as six-months-old all the way to adults through consistent, weekly exposure in our cutting-edge curriculum. At SafeSplash, we pride ourselves in not only delivering exceptional learn-to-swim service in a family-friendly, warm water environment designed specifically for kids, but we also teach the foundations of stroke techniques so that your kiddo can confidently enjoy a lifelong, positive relationship with the water and advance in the sport of swimming.
Our family doesn’t ever swim unless it’s summertime. Why do swim lessons year-round?
We believe the fall, winter and spring are the ideal time to start and the American Academy of Pediatrics agrees! Stating that swim lessons should ideally begin around a child’s first birthday and that swim lessons reduce the risk of drowning by 88%. Swimming is like learning a language, in which consistent practice and exposure leads to mastery much faster than only seasonal or intermittent exposure. Year-round lessons, while not only are a great way to keep your kiddo engaged in a healthy activity, allow for greater preparation and confidence when the summer season rolls around. So we say start preparing for that spring break trip now!
How will one instructor teach all these kids?!
Our pool is set up so that each lesson strives for a 3:1 child to instructor ratio and never exceeds four kiddos in a class. This small class allows for a great deal of one-on-one time while also giving kids the opportunity to learn from each other in a healthy and supportive environment. You would be amazed at how quickly the class blows bubbles, for example, after the first kiddo to master the skill does so! Additionally, parents can watch their kiddo learn to swim from the climate-controlled lobby and utilize our showers and changing rooms to conveniently be on their way after the 30-minute class.
