A trip to the farmers’ market is about more than just picking up a few groceries. It can be an adventure for you and your family.
Many of the farmers’ markets in East Tennessee have special activities, including live music and seasonal events. Some even have a kids’ club, where each child receives “produce bucks” to do their own shopping. Most of the markets also accept SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program). SNAP Participants can even double their food dollars at the farmers’ market. For more information on that program and more, click here.
If you think it’s all about vegetables, think again! Most area farmers’ markets offer fresh meat, eggs, honey, baked goods and more. So, grab your shopping list and head out to your nearest farmers’ market!
