It’s Never Too Late to Chase Your Dreams

“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.” – C.S. Lewis

“Oh no, the time isn’t right.” “I can wait until this time of life passes.” “That ship has sailed.” Do these statements sound familiar? These self-imposing limits and unfair rules have come from fear of failure and the expectations of those around us.

Starting a business was one of those experiences. In the very early days, my husband was starting his business at the same time and there were a lot of unknowns. As I moved to my first brick and mortar location, we signed a lease one month after the birth of our second child. It would have been easy to give up and just keep on with what I was doing.

“Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.” – Thomas A. Edison

Hard work and perseverance make those goals a reality. Every degree, job and experience was never a waste of time, but an important stepping-stone to get to the finish line. I sometimes wish I could have started back in my twenties, but I wouldn’t have been able to start with the experience all those past opportunities provided.

Dreams are easier to chase when you have experience.

Seek encouragement from mentors and friends. They can keep you motivated and won’t let you quit when the going gets tough. Friends celebrate your success!

“What if I fall? Oh, but my darling what if you fly?” – E.H

The fear of failure can be paralyzing when working towards a goal. The feeling of reaching our goal makes us feel like we are soaring. We can always pick ourselves up and try again if we fall. And the mistakes make us all the wiser. Chasing those dreams isn’t easy, but it’s so worth it! It may take days, months or years to reach those goals, but don’t give up.

What are you working towards right now?
