12 Healthy + Fast Breakfast Ideas!

We’ve all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. As a dietitian I have spent countless hours telling clients and patients that they need to eat breakfast and that their kids need to eat breakfast. It is important. But the practical stuff behind it — the what it takes to get breakfast, yourself, and your kids ready, fed, and out the door on time — that’s what keeps a lot of us from enjoying the most important meal of the day. I’m sharing some of my favorite breakfast ideas. These are quick, easy to put together, and some are even on-the-go if you find yourself feeding your kids breakfast on the way to school like I do sometimes.12 Healthy + Fast Breakfast Ideas!

 

1.  Low-fat yogurt + whole grain cereal + fruit. Turn it into a parfait for a fun breakfast for kids! 

2.  Whole-grain frozen waffle, spread with PB, and top with banana slices.

3.  Bran muffin with fruit smoothie.

4.  Oatmeal with dried cranberries and almonds on top.

5.  Tortilla topped with scrambled eggs, black beans, shredded cheese, + salsa. This is my very favorite breakfast. So filling. So full of protein. So healthy. So delicious. Love, love, love it! 

6.  Graham crackers, apple slices, cheese stick.

7.  Breakfast sandwich — whole wheat bread, egg, bacon, + cheese. 

8.  Omelet with turkey, cheese, + veggies.

9.  Oatmeal with strawberries, blueberries, bananas, + glass of milk.

10.  Whole wheat cheese toast + 100% fruit juice.

11.  Sweet potato pancakes.

12.  Trail mix breakfast :: whole grain cereal, pistachios, dried fruit (apricot, pineapple, mango, raisins) + glass of low-fat or fat-free milk.
