Thrifty Christmas

In December, we celebrate. And it’s not just one day. It’s the entire month. Yes, Decembers’s red & green hues sneak into color schemes as early as November with those Christmas decor enthusiasts and department store sales. And this last calendar month even boasts a holly evergreen kinda beautiful as it spills over into January with New Year’s Eve twinkle lights with its countdown to newness.

In December, we spend. Not just time with loved ones, but money from our pockets too. Gifting presents, preparing for Santa and the good ole purchasing for holiday get-togethers top our budgeted lists.

And, all too often, our wallets are left empty for fashioning our happy festive. We moan & groan over wearing the same red sweater we’ve worn every year post-pregnancy for the Christmas card photo.

Well, sisters? Pack that trusty red sweater right on up. Better yet, take it with you on your trip to Goodwill as a donation. Why? Because Meg’s here to put some jingle back in your bells, not to mention, some cost less kinda cute back in that Christmas closet of yours!

In hopes of encouraging your holiday look for less, I have taken the 4 red & green themed articles above and created 4 completely different Christmas looks. All of these were Goodwill purchases with the exception of the truly glorious Griswold baseball tee which was a Wal-Mart purchase.

Each of the following outfits contain Goodwill items with the exception of shoes and one killer pair of leg warmers I just so happened to announce to the world was in my possession last week here. Without further ado, let’s get jiggy thrifty with it.

thrifty christmas 450

With a grand total of $46.14 spent, I have gifted myself 4 versatile looks for the holidays and a little more cash to use towards the important things like a dart board and guitars for the little boys in my home. Not to mention, the ingredients to my husband’s favorite peanut butter fudge.

And Goodwill, people? Well, as Cousin Eddie says, “It’s like the gift that just keeps on giving.” For the love a festive frugal find, the spirit of Christmas can’t be stopped.
