Hello from Children’s Dentistry of Knoxville! In our last post, we shared what a 1st appointment is like for our patients. Today’s post is all about our team. The people who work here are what really make a visit to our office special.
This is a fun bunch that loves dentistry and loves kids! Put those two together and you’ve got magic. So, how many people do you think it takes to make our office work? The answer: 20 people! 2 Doctors, 1 Practice Administrator, 1 Business Manager, 6 Dental Assistants, 3 Dental Hygienists, 1 Hygiene Assistant, 1 Treatment Coordinator, 1 Patient Coordinator, 1 Insurance Coordinator, 1 Appointment Coordinator, 1 Financial Coordinator, and 1 Scheduling Coordinator.
Whew. That’s a lot of people. And, everyone is critical to giving our patients the best possible experience.
Here are a few lesser known facts about our talented staff that you may or may not want to know!
- Over half of our staff has more than 8 years of experience in the dental field. We know experience matters to you.
- 16 of our employees have been part of our team for 2 years or more.
- Our staff reports that they brush their teeth 2-3 times EVERY day. What would you expect from a dental office?
- 14 of 20 floss every day. We’re only human, people.
- Favorite Disney Princess is Ariel, with Belle as a close 2nd.
- Dr. Darryl LOVES to waterski. He’s been doing it since he was 6!
- Dr. B is mildly obsessed with World War II history (ask about his WWII replica motorcycle)!
Here’s a little more (practical) information about our doctors and staff.
Our doctors are the heart of the practice. Dr. Darryl opened Children’s Dentistry of Knoxville in 2006 and Dr. Britton (“Dr. B”) joined the practice in 2010. Dr. Darryl sees our younger patients from age 1 (remember: 1st birthday is time for 1st dental appointment!) until they are age 6 -7. Dr. B sees older patients once they start getting their permanent teeth.
Ultimately our doctors’ goal is to give their patients a strong foundation for a lifetime of great dental health. They want to show a child that coming to the dentist is not something to be feared.
Clinical Team
6 dental assistants, 3 dental hygienist and 1 hygiene assistant all work side by side with our doctors to care for our patients. They accompany patients throughout the appointment, teach patients how to brush and floss, and clean our patients’ teeth and take x-rays. Dental assistants also assist the doctors during treatment appointments. These ladies have great clinical skills as well as great personalities for working with our patients.
Administrative Team
These ladies manage everything about appointments that isn’t clinical. From the friendly voice on the phone before you come, to the friendly face that greets you while you are here…these ladies strive to make everything about your appointment great. From scheduling appointments to verifying insurance benefits, they are here to help.
