Last Minute New Year's Eve Celebration IdeasIf you woke up this morning only to realize today is the LAST DAY of 2015, no worries momma! I have put together some last minute ways to celebrate the new year with your kiddos on the cheap and easy! Most, if not all, items could be found at home. Feel free to substitute what you have!

Last Minute New Year’s Eve Celebration Ideas:

Camping Indoors

Things you’ll need: blankets/sheets

Instructions: build forts and tents from sheets and blankets! Super easy and makes for great family fun building and playing!

Countdown to the New Year!

Things you’ll need: brown paper lunch bags (the number depends on how many hours you want to “countdown;” you can substitute balloons for the bags), paper, and pen or marker.

Instructions: pick a start time for your countdown. For example, start at 5pm and on each bag write the time in hour increments (or 30 minutes or less if you’re feeling spunky). Write a fun activity on a slip of paper and insert into each bag. At the time listed, your littles open the bag and do the activity.

So simple and you can make it fit your family! Some activities can include playing charades, playing flashlight tag, or even a craft (see below for a great craft!)

Homemade Poppers

Things you’ll need: toilet paper roll tubes, tissue paper (or even cheap left-over wrapping paper…just use the white side!), string or ribbon, scraps of paper or wrapping paper to make confetti, and candy or little toys (if desired).

Instructions: rip up scraps of paper in small pieces and set aside. Next, cut tissue paper about 4 inches longer than the toilet paper tube. Wrap tube with tissue paper and leave about 2 inches or so at the end. Twist the tissue paper and tie with ribbon/string. Then, take some of the confetti, toys, candy, etc. and insert them into toilet paper roll tube. Lastly, twist the other end of tissue paper and tie with ribbon/string.

When it’s time to celebrate, pull from both ends and let the confetti fly!

Scavenger/Treasure Hunt

Things you’ll need: paper and pen

Instructions: create clues to lead the kiddos around the house. Clues vary based on age and abilities, so be creative and have fun!

Time Capsule

Things you’ll need: empty box, paper, pen and favorite item from 2015.

Instructions: find an empty box and decorate it with the kids. Have everyone bring one or two items to put in the time capsule along with memories/thoughts jotted down. This would be a fun time to interview the kids about their favorite things, memories, what they want to be when they grow up, etc. Tape up the box and pick a time to open it!

There are so many fun things you can do at home this New Year’s Eve! Be creative and make some awesome memories with your kiddos! Cheers to 2016!
