A Knoxville Family’s Guide to June 2026

Summer is in full swing in East Tennessee! There’s no reason for boredom to set in with all the events taking place this month. Safety City, a Knoxville favorite, is opening for the summer. Children can ride their bicycles or scooters around the miniature version of Knoxville complete with buildings, paved streets and more. For more details on Safety City’s summer hours, click hereKid A’ Riffic Fun in the Park also begins this month. The free event for children ages two to 12 offers hands on crafts and activities. Kid A’ Riffic will be held on Wednesdays in June and July at a different Knoxville park each week. June’s arrival means many plants and flowers are in full bloom, including lavender. The Lavender Festival in Oak Ridge is back for its 26th year. This family-friendly event features 150 artisan vendors, live music, children’s activities and more. Admission to this festival is free. Calling all Swifties! The Farragut Community Center is hosting a “Taylor Swift Cookie Decorating Class.” It’s designed for beginner cookie decorators and all materials are provided. Pre-registration is required. Watch the incredible show of fireflies at Seven Islands State Birding Park! This program is designed for all ages. Before it gets dark there will be kid-friendly crafts, games and a story time in the gardens. You can sign up for the program here.
