It’s fair time in Tennessee! The Tennessee Valley Fair has been showcasing East Tennessee’s heritage, agriculture, and the arts for over 100-years. This year is no different! Expect to find plenty of family-friendly activities and entertainment.
2024 Tennessee Valley Fair September 6th-15th
The Midway
The Midway is probably the most recognizable part of the Tennessee Valley Fair. Nearly 50 amusement rides spin, shake, drop, and light up the night sky. They offer something for everyone whether you’re a major thrill-seeker or if the Merry Go Round is more your speed. You can purchase individual ride tickets or unlimited ride wristbands. During the week, unlimited ride wristbands are $30.00. They are $35.00 on weekends.
Food
What’s a state fair without food? You can count on classics like barbecue and hot dogs, but there will always be a new fair food to try. Last year, Denenie Weenies won Best International Food and Best Deep-Fried Food during the Tennessee Valley Fair Food Throwdown competition. Foodies take note! This year there will also be three beer gardens. The Overlook at the Jacob Building location will be open throughout the entire fair. The Action Sports and Homer Hamilton Theatre beer gardens will only be open during shows and events.
Concerts
This year, the Tennessee Valley Fair is kicking off its concert lineup with the 1990s and 2000s pop band of brothers: Hanson! Other crowd favorites will follow including hip-hop star and actor Ludacris. Treaty Oak Revival — known for rowdy and entertaining shows — will also be in the mix. The Texas-based group recently made its Grand Ole Opry debut. You can also catch local acts during the fair. For the fair music schedule and ticket information, click here.
Agtivities
Fun and learning go hand-in-hand at the Tennessee Valley Fair! Educating fairgoers about agriculture is an important part of the fair’s mission. You can wander the livestock barns and even see live demonstrations like sheep shearing and participate in interactive exhibits. Try your hand at milking a simulated dairy cow! Kids will love to participate in the Agventure Scavenger Hunt. Pick up your map, visit the designated stations and earn a prize. Be ready to be wowed at the Giant Growing Competition located inside the Jacob Building. The gargantuan vegetables on display are eligible to be entered in the Guinness World Records. That’s just scratching the surface of the “agtivities” you can enjoy at the fair!
The Tennessee Valley Fair lasts for ten days so there’s plenty of time to explore everything we mentioned and more. Tickets can be purchased online or at the gate. Be on the lookout for details about discount days including “Mommy Monday.”
