My name is Jenna and I’m a self-proclaimed SCRUNCHY MAMA. I’m not crunchy enough to be a “crunchy mama,” but I am a research junkie and a hippie at heart. I try my hardest to do what works best for my family, but let’s face it: I refuse to completely stress myself out over every little thing in life. My main goal is to make sure that my family is living well and most of my worries come from things like making sure my boys aren’t peeing off public decks (true story), mooning elderly neighbors or shoving small objects in any holes of their body. #boymom
If you came to my house today, you would find items that fall on all areas of the spectrum of crunchy and not so crunchy. Each of us has to do what works best for us and our families!
Below you will find some of my scrunchy mama faves. They probably won’t live up to everyone’s standards, but we’ve been pretty happy with them in my household!
Norwex Cloths
Y’all these things have been a game changer in my household. I have received a few as gifts and they greatly reduce the amount of chemicals that you use in your home because you clean and disinfect with water and your cloth. The science behind it all can be found by simply googling Norwex cleaning cloths (it’s pretty amazing). I’m over here doing the happy dance that I don’t have to have a cleaning closet locked up, fearing that I’m going to hop out of the shower and see my kid drinking a bottle of Windex. I HIGHLY recommend the window rag for cleaning your windows, mirrors and stainless steel, STREAK FREE.
PiperWai Deodorant
This is an amazing Shark Tank find. This deodorant uses activated charcoal to absorb wetness in your pits and keepin’ your stank from stinkin’! My skin is crazy sensitive and I’ve been rockin’ this on my pits for over a year without any issue.
Shea Moisture Balm
I stumbled upon this lip nectar from heaven while perusing the aisles at Walmart a few weeks ago. This is a vegan lip balm that contains no parabens, no phthalates, no propylene glycol, no mineral oil, no petroleum and no sulfates! (And if you’ve never read the story of how Shea Moisture started, you need to google, “Sofi Tucker.”)
Pure Haven Essentials Toner
Okay y’all…for 30 years my skin would feel like it was going to crack and fall off as soon as I got out of a hot shower. Battling dry skin is the PITS, but two years ago I found this little gem. A hearty spritz from the neck up to my forehead has my skin completely refreshed and rejuvenated. It’s also amazing for itchy bug bites or to spray in your hair before blow drying for some added volume!
Bug Soother Bug Spray
I’ve never had a better bug spray for my kiddos! This smells delightful and works like a charm. It is DEET free and contains only seven ingredients that can be easily pronounced. HA!
Blue Lizard Sunscreen
We’ve been loving this brand this summer. Not only does it WORK, but the “Baby” and “Sensitive” lines contain minimal ingredients and are paraben and fragrance free. I love that it’s easy to rub in and not a complete pain in the butt like most natural sunscreens!
Breathe Vapor Stick
If you or your kids are sick, this bad boy is going to change your life! A dear friend introduced it to my kids last year and now we swear by it. A swipe on the chest and the bottoms of the feet before bed and you can say goodbye to congestion and coughing!
Thank you for all of this great information Jenna .You are awesome.
Happy 4th of July..Thank you Adam for serving our country
Great list! I use half of these also and love them! Will have to try that by spray when we run out of our current fav’!
Thanks for keeping it real!
We love bug soother! It does a great job!
Homespun is a great source for a wonderful multipurpose natural cleaner! She is in the process of Rolling out laundry detergent as well and has dish soap (although I haven’t tried it). Her website is https://www.homespunok.com/
I love the term Scrunchy! Great description! I’ve been changing things slowly since we adopted my little boy 2 years ago. Just started selling Crunchi Cosmetics because it’s the only brand I’ve tried and actually liked (finally)! Going green is a slow process, isn’t it? 🙂
Hey!! Love your blog. I also want to try that deo!
I did want to tell you that Blue Lizard does have hormone disrupters in their sunscreens – ackkk!!! I’d avoid active ingredients such as: Octinxate, Oxybenzome, Homosalate, and instead use active ingredients like Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide.
They are harder to rub in but that’s actually a sign of a truly natural sunscreen!! When then don’t rub in that means the active ingredients are sitting on top of the skin and deflecting the UV rays as opposed to absorbing into the skin and bloodstream.
I like Badger Sunscreen and PUREhaven’s brand new one.
