The Knoxville Moms Blog was so excited to be invited to a special preview of the HGTV Urban Oasis 2017. Knoxville is so lucky to have Scripps Network headquartered in our Scruffy City — our town has so much to be proud of! The Craftsman style cottage is located in the Fourth and Gill area, a vibrant and hip part of Knoxville. The interior design was directed by Brian Patrick Flynn, and architecture and renovation were completed by Open Door Architecture and Tillman Companies.
Let’s start our tour!
The charming 1,850 square foot home was renovated into an airy and open floor plan for the modern-day family. The millennial pink door (Sherwin Williams, Hopeful) is a pretty pop of color against the navy exterior (Sherwin Williams, Sea Serpent) of the house. Blue was carried throughout the home and linked the rooms beautifully.
The kitchen was one of my favorite rooms in the home.
It has a great layout with lots of practical working space and storage. There was a great use of texture from the original brick wall, the feminine porcelain tile that looked like pressed tin and the basket style statement lighting. The timeless blue was continued on the kitchen cabinets (Sherwin Williams, Van Deusen Blue).
Down the spacious hallway finished in board and batten with three light fixtures, were a master bedroom and bathroom, two bedrooms, a guest bath, laundry room and back porch.
The master bedroom and bathroom were my next favorite rooms in the home.
Brian Patrick Flynn used a neutral palette with pops of pink that made a dreamy master bedroom escape. He captured the original feel of the home while bringing in a more modern aesthetic. The gallery wall was done in a way that made it feel like the art had been perfectly collected for years.
The master bathroom was absolutely stunning with its natural light. It also featured wallpaper by Ashley Woodson Bailey. I love dark and moody florals and wallpaper. The bathroom is such a perfect place for this wallpaper. It made the room like a jewel box.
The garage was converted into a fun space to play and relax. Since it was a garage, one can open the door and let in lots of beautiful light and fresh air while playing a favorite game.
It was an absolute dream getting to take a tour of the HGTV Urban Oasis 2017 home.
A good home renovation always makes my heart skip a beat. And I got to meet one of my favorite designers, Brian Patrick Flynn and talk about color! I’m pretty sure I couldn’t stop smiling the day we took our tour. To see more of the house, stop by HGTV Urban Oasis site and take a virtual tour and let us know what your favorite room is!
