I’m not a mom, or a person at that, who’s big on all of the holidays. I love the big ones! But I struggle when it comes to St. Patrick’s Day, Valentine’s Day, etc. I’m not great with decorations, or special treats, or preparing adorable little leprechaun trails late the night before while my kids are sleeping. Sure, I would love to see their joy, but truth be told, my bed is just calling my name at the end of the day. If you’re a mom who does all of that, I am seriously so impressed. I want to be you. I want you to teach me your ways. If you are a mom like me — let’s struggle through these days together 🙂

I do like to do something special for St. Patrick’s Day now because I married into an Irish family, and I want my children to know and appreciate their heritage. Our biological children are 25% Irish — my husband’s grandparents came to America in the 1950s. I’m learning more and more how important it is to teach my children where they came from. My first born is Thomas Patrick in a long line of Thomas Patricks who lived in Ireland — playing professional soccer, fighting for their country. All important things to teach our children. What better opportunity to teach them about their Irish background than some St. Patrick’s Day fun!

I plan to make some fun food for our family on St. Patrick’s Day. I like easy and healthy, so I went through the produce section looking for fresh food that was green! There are so many options! We are going to enjoy a lot of green foods.

These healthy and very easy options are my favorite!
green salad.kmbSpinach salad with avocado. Add on anything you want here! Fruit would be great. Add a nice vinaigrette dressing and you will be so pleased!

Don’t forget you can have a healthy green drink, too! Add lime to your water. The flavor is fantastic and you will be festive while drinking the best drink for you.

green fruit.kmbA perfect snack plate for my littles. If I were crafty, I would add toothpicks with shamrocks glued to them!

Here are some other wonderfully creative + such fun ideas for kids:

Make your kid a shamrock lunch with these fun ideas.

A combination of a bunch of delicious things to make shamrock pretzel pops.

My kids love special drinks! This shamrock punch is so easy!

How about a breakfast of lucky charms and green milk?

How about a sandwich for mom — a gourmet green lunch.

My very favorite idea — green veggies! A green ombre snack platter.

I want to eat these right now!!
