Creating Family Traditions with North Carolina Fraser Fir Christmas Trees

1

One of my most favorite traditions of Christmas is selecting our Christmas tree as a family. The tradition began when I was in 4th grade with my family. We drove the short drive up to North Carolina and went to the prettiest tree farm to select our tree. It always felt like it marked the beginning of the Christmas season.

This post is brought to you by our partners at North Carolina Christmas Tree Association.

This beloved tradition has now been carried over when I had my own family. We’ve made a few changes to our favorite tradition over the years, but one thing always remains the same- we love the time together selecting our tree! The Fraser Fir tree farms in North Carolina provide experiences that create memories that last a lifetime. My boys have experienced beautiful snow at the tree farms and sliding down the hills, visiting Santa, hot chocolate and cookies and the joy of finding the perfect tree. As the decorator of the house, I love selecting their handmade, fresh wreaths and garland to finish out the house with too. It’s a wonderful day together we look forward to year after year.

North Carolina Tree Farms produce the iconic Christmas tree, the Fraser Fir. This tree has a beautiful shape and sturdy branches to hold your favorite ornaments. It has an incredible smell and wonderful needle retention. We usually cut our tree the day before Thanksgiving and the tree drops very little needles! When we take our tree down on the first of January, it still looks healthy and smells wonderful. It takes the grower several years to get the tree ready with careful shearing to create the iconic Christmas tree we love. It’s no surprise that the North Carolina Fraser fir has been judged the Nation’s best through a contest sponsored by the National Christmas Tree Association and chosen for the official White House Christmas tree 16 times.

This year it is more important than ever to support our North Carolina neighbor’s tree farms after Hurricane Helene. If you cannot make the drive to one of the local Fraser Fir tree farms, you can shop for a North Carolina Fraser Fir in Knoxville by purchasing through Ace Hardware or your local Boy Scout troop.

I can’t wait to make plans for our favorite tradition of cutting our tree this year and decorating it as family together!
