Community Appreciation Week with Angela Floyd Schools

Every year Angela Floyd Schools hosts a Community Appreciation Week during the month of October, and this year, they’re going all out to celebrate their 20th Anniversary Season.

AFS Community Appreciation Week

In addition to doing free trial dance and music lessons throughout the week of October 3rd-8th, AFS is offering a Brownie and Junior Girl Scout Badge workshop for dance and music badges. These complimentary hour and a half classes will be on Friday, October 7th at the North Location. From 4:30-6pm, Brownie Girls Scouts can come individually or as a troop to earn their dance badges, and from 6-7:30pm, Junior Girl Scouts can come individually or as a troop to earn their music badges. The studio will mail out badges to each participant after the classes, so there’s no hassle at all for troop leaders. You can reserve a spot for a free trial lesson or for the Girl Scout Badge Workshop by contacting the studio through their website or by phone at 865-675-9894.

Additionally, Angela Floyd Schools is heading up Cash for Classrooms, which is a program to help teachers in Knox County get the supplies they need for their classes. Teachers can submit applications for consideration to receive $250 towards specific classroom supplies. AFS, in partnership with the Shopper News and other sponsors, hopes to raise $5,000 to go straight to Knox County’s hardworking teachers!

Giving back to the community is an important part of the culture at Angela Floyd Schools. Ever since she opened the first of her two locations in 1997, Angela Floyd has been cultivating an environment for her students and staff that prioritizes these goals:

Put Family First

Be and Develop Positive Role Models

Strive for Excellence

Choose Age Appropriate Choreography, Costumes, and Music Selections

Build Self Confidence

Encourage Creativity

Exceed Expectations

Teach Life Lessons through Dance and Music Lessons

Give Back To our Community

With these objectives in mind, Angela Floyd Schools is excited to kick off its annual Community Appreciation Week! Join them October 3rd-8th to celebrate our wonderful community here in East Tennessee and AFS’ dedication to the art of dance and music!

Over 20 years ago, I moved to Knoxville and fell in love with the city that has now truly become my home. Shortly after moving here, I married my college sweetheart, and when not working we set out to travel as much as we could. After working as a financial manager for six years, I welcomed my first son in 2010 and began a journey as a stay-at-home mom. Two years later we added another baby boy to make us a family of four. In June 2016, we welcomed our third son. I founded Knoxville Moms in November 2013 which began my career as a work-from-home mom, and it grew to the expansion of Chattanooga Moms in March 2016. We welcomed our first girl in November 2017 making us a family of six and adding a little pink in our house. In June 2021, I became the co-owner of the Atlanta Mom website, and in March 2022 I became the owner of the Nashville Moms parenting website. When I'm not carpooling the kids to sports and activities, you can find me enjoying a cup of coffee, reading a good book, and dreaming about my toes in the sand. I enjoy meeting new people and enjoy connecting the moms of Knoxville, Chattanooga, Atlanta, and Nashville.
