Smoky Mountain Skating Academy

At Smoky Mountain Skating Academy, we believe the ice is for everyone—whether you’re strapping on skates for the very first time or chasing bigger skating goals. Our Learn to Skate program is Knoxville’s top-rated beginner program, designed for kids and adults to build confidence, improve technique, and most importantly, have fun. It’s also a fantastic way for youth and adult hockey players to strengthen their skating skills—the foundation of the game.
For those ready to advance, our Aspire program bridges the gap between Learn to Skate and competitive figure skating. Skaters receive both on-ice and off-ice training in a supportive environment that develops artistry, technique, and performance skills.
Every Learn to Skate session also includes Family Skate Sundays, where skaters can bring their families on the ice at no extra cost—an experience kids love and parents look forward to each week. With flexible class schedules, expert coaching, and a welcoming community, there’s never been a better time to discover the joy of skating in Knoxville.
The Knight School Knoxville

Chess is one of the few activities that makes kids genuinely smarter, and The Knight School makes it genuinely fun. At TKS Knoxville, weekly classes for ages 5-14 blend high-energy instruction with the social excitement of a chess party, where kids are laughing, competing, and learning without realizing how hard they’re working. Our programs include a standard elementary class, an advanced Varsity section for serious players, and Pink Geniuses, a girls-only class designed to give young women a confident, welcoming entry point into the game. Classes meet once per week for 75 minutes at convenient locations across Knoxville and surrounding areas, fitting naturally into a busy family’s schedule. Chess builds the kind of thinking skills that transfer everywhere: patience, pattern recognition, planning ahead, and learning to lose gracefully and come back stronger. Whether your child has never touched a chess piece or already knows the basics, TKS Knoxville meets them where they are and takes them somewhere remarkable.

During their 28 years of teaching performing arts to children in East Tennessee, the staff at Angela Floyd Schools has kept this motto in mind: we don’t teach kids to make great dancers and musicians, we teach dance and music to make great kids! So much is learned through the performing arts that helps prepare students for a lot more than just the stage. From helping develop emotional skills such as confidence, teamwork, mindfulness, and goal setting to assisting with cognitive skills such as memorization, focused and sustained attention, and creativity, the performing arts offer a wide variety of benefits for young children all the way up through adult students!
