Fall Heritage Days

October 25 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

$10 – $50

The Museum of Appalachia invites students to step back in time enjoy the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes of pioneer Southern Appalachian traditions and old-time demonstrations of the fall harvest season. Fall Heritage Days will feature demonstrations of pumpkin carving, beekeeping, sheep shearing, sheep herding, and rug hooking. Live musicians will perform family-friendly bluegrass and folk music throughout the day. Pioneer artisans will showcase how to make molasses, quilts, brooms, pottery, and more. Interactive activities include pumpkin painting, crosscut sawing, shape-note singing, spelling bees, and an animal meet & greet. Admission includes a tour of the museum farm and village, which contains some three-dozen historic log structures, exhibit halls filled with thousands of Southern Appalachian artifacts, working gardens, and farm animals.
