Ok, y’all. This is my go-to five minute makeup routine that I can easily throw on, still feel fresh, and show my face in public! I try and use as many drugstore products because HELLOOOOO we are on a budget.
If you only take away one thing from this post, that would be to MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE!!!
Even you oily-skinned ladies out there: MOISTURIZE! I have oily/acne prone skin and the best thing I’ve done for my skin is incorporate oils and moisturizers into my skincare routine. That has made the biggest difference and helped my makeup look flawless. Have you ever heard of tinkling? Because, if not, you’re missing out! Check out Mary Beth’s Post all about it HERE!
Step 1: CONCEALER
Basically baptize yourself in this. I put this on under my eyes, eyelids, and any problem areas that need concealing. I use a moist beauty blender to gently PAT it all in. Never use your fingers or drag any product around on your face. Using a beauty blender or makeup brush to gently push it into your skin will give you a healthier glow.
Step 2: Set your concealer with a powder
I prefer Anastasia banana powder or a great drugstore option is NYX banana powder. I take a brush and put this powder anywhere I put concealer to lock it in for the day.
Step 3: Bronzer/Blush
You can use one or the other or both, depending on what you like. I use a bronzer to contour and bring some LIFE back to my face. I put it on my cheeks, forehead, and along my jawline. I add blush to the apples of my cheeks to give me more color.
Step 4: Highlight & Brows
I use Becca highlighter in Moonstone on the tops of my cheeks, brow bone, and inner corners of my eyes to give the extra glow from within and make myself look AWAKE!! This is a trick I have learned that helps me look put together and also brightens up my eyes. Also, for quick brows I use Benefits Gimmie Brow to give them some color and hold them in place all day long; otherwise, they’re flapping in the wind.
Step 5: Lips & Mascara
If you don’t do anything else, throw on some layers of your favorite lip gloss and a few coats of mascara and you can survive your day. Using a bright lip color can make you feel like you put some effort into your face and give you a boost of happiness. For lashes, I use an eyelash curler and coat my top lashes once, then bottom lashes, and then top lashes again until I achieve the look I want: Full, voluminous lashes! You’ll want to make sure you don’t wait until the top lashes are completely dry to add another layer because that’s what causes crunchy/clumpy/spider lashes. NO BUENO!
Tip for glasses: add some bronzer or eyeshadow on your bottom lids near your eyeliner to help your eyes pop! It helps to focus on your bottom lashes so your eyes aren’t drowned out.
You can finish your look with a makeup setting spray to help hold it all day!
