That funny little guy with the striped turtleneck and black-rimmed glasses is coming back to Knoxville this summer! The downtown “Waldo Scavenger Hunt” kicks off this July. Waldo was made famous by the children’s book series “Where’s Waldo?” Each book takes children on a hunt to find him in wild and whimsical illustrations. The Knoxville scavenger hunt brings the fun to real life!
Waldo will be hiding in more than 35 locations in downtown Knoxville. Kids (and kids at heart) can pick up a Waldo passport at any of the participating locations. Then it’s time to start hunting. Your journey will take you to businesses, museums and restaurants to name just a few locations. Collect a stamp every time you spot him. If you collect 20 or more, you’ll be entered to win prizes. The first 500 spotters can also claim a “Found Waldo Knox” sticker at Union Avenue Books. That’s not all! Share photos of your adventure for chances to win weekly gift cards. Be sure to use the #FoundWaldoKnox on your social posts or you can upload photos here.
There’s lots of fun to be had along the way. Time your hunt well and you can enjoy the Market Square Farmers’ Market, Lawson McGee Library story time, the downtown water play fountains and more. You’ll need sustenance when you’re hunting for Waldo! Cool off with an ice cream or indulge in another treat to keep your energy up.
