And for those hot and sunny days when you can’t make it to the splash pad, here are a few water activities you can do at home!
Ice Excavating
Fill a bowl with water and drop a few toys inside. Put it in the freezer and when it’s totally solid, take it out of the bowl, give the kids a few hammers and let them “excavate” the toys.
Water Play
Fill a plastic tub with water and gather up a few items from around the house. Sponges, measuring cups, spoons, washcloths, funnels, and bowls can all be used to scoop and pour. Play a game of “Will it Float?” with various toys and household objects.
Wash the Cars
I’m a sucker for activities that are fun for the kids and productive for me. Why is it that kids love washing cars so much? I don’t care. It’s amazing and it gets things done! You can also change it up a little bit and do a Kid Car Wash and let them wash their toy cars, bikes, and/or scooters.
Milk Jug Watering Can/Sprinkler
Wash out the interior of a milk jug and poke several holes in the lid. You can hang it from a tree for a DIY sprinkler (just cut a hole in the bottom for the water hose to sit) or it can be used as a watering can, water war weapon, or an extra accessory for your water play tub.
