Frothy Monkey is an independently owned, all-day cafe and coffee roaster serving breakfast, lunch and dinner with an emphasis on quality, community, and local relationships. Frothy’s thoughtfully designed menu includes fresh favorites, options for a variety of dietary needs, kids menu, a strong coffee program and a full bar. There is truly something for everyone at any time of day. Frothy Monkey’s food and drinks are made from scratch using original recipes and thoughtfully-sourced ingredients from regional farmers and producers whenever possible. 

Frothy Monkey’s  Downtown Knoxville location is the perfect stop for coffee or a meal while enjoying all that Gay Street has to offer. Amongst the creative and bright neighborhoods of Knoxville, our all-day cafes bring people together to share a quality coffee and freshly made menu items from breakfast to dinner. We aim to provide a safe and welcoming environment that can nourish our guests and our community relationships through sustainably sourced coffee and ingredients.

Dining Options

Dining-In: In Downtown Knoxville, guests are welcome to dine-in with full-service wait staff at indoor and outdoor tables. Please see the host stand to be seated.

Order To-Go: Guests are welcome to order at the counter for to-go coffee or food or order online for pickup. Come in for a latte or signature drink before hitting the town or heading to work! Food items, drinks, and fresh baked goods from BAKERY by Frothy Monkey are available to go.

Apple Cake Tearoom is a traditional Southern tearoom. Specialties include the Tea Room Medley of chicken salad, glazed fruit, banana nut bread with cream cheese filling and chips; quiche of the day, beef and gravy, and a heart healthy half pineapple or tomato with chunk light tuna on melba toast.

Favorite sandwiches are chicken salad, tea room club, club croissant, turkey, ham and swiss, open face turkey and swiss, roast beef and cheddar, open face Reuben, or patty melt. A variety of salads are on the menu with French onion soup, soup of the day, chili, and potato soup.

We also serve Lavazza Coffe & Espresso, French sodas and lemonades, imported beers and hard ciders, fine wine & champagne plus a fine selection of pastries, candies and imported macarons and petit fours.
Bloody Mary’s, Screwdrivers and Bailey’s & Coffee availavle downtown, and only wine and beer is available in the Farragut restaurant.
Please, note our Farragut location at 161 Brooklawn Street closes at night for dinner one-hour earlier than our Downtown location at 412 Clinch Avenue.

Don’t worry – we have the carnivores covered, too. You’ll find antibiotic free chicken, Benton’s Bacon, Italian sausage and our house made lamb sausage. Our lunch meats are nitrite/nitrate free.
You can find a second location of The Tomato Head in The Gallery Shopping Center, located at 7240 Kingston Pike in West Hills.
