Calling All Romance Book Lovers

Calling All Romance Book Lovers
I was scrolling Instagram one day when I saw the coolest post from a girl who made her own romance book store named Good Girl Books and it was on wheels. Not only that, but it was the cutest pink color, so I knew I had to go see this in person!

Luckily, she had a pop-up event scheduled for that weekend, so my daughter and I loaded up to go see the pink romance book truck, appropriately named “Little Miss Smuttie.” It did not disappoint! My four-year-old daughter was so excited to see how cute the truck was and of course, we also got some amazing cupcakes at Magpies Bakery, where the event was taking place. I was able to talk to the owner of Good Girl Books, Rayanne Streeter, about how her book store started and what made her want to pursue her own book truck.
Not only does Rayanne have a PhD in Sociology, but she’s also an instructor at Maryville College where she teaches sociology and gender, and women’s studies courses. This woman is the definition of a girl boss. I found out from speaking with her that she had a lot of free time during COVID and had started reading more for pleasure after picking up Emily Henry’s book, Beach Read. That’s when Rayanne decided she absolutely loved the romance genre. She had dreams of opening up a bookstore, but didn’t think it was in the cards until she found her (now) book truck online in North Carolina and decided to take the leap.

As a romance book lover, I’m so glad she did!

You can find Good Girl Books online here. You can also find Little Miss Smuttie along with Rayanne and her husband (who is oftentimes helping her set up the pop-up events), all around Knoxville. Rayanne’s favorite part of doing these pop-up events is connecting with other readers and working with local women-owned businesses.

The next events coming up for Good Girl Books are as follows:

9/21:French Fried Vintage, 11am-2pm
9/28:Oglewood Avenue Plant Shop, 11am-2pm
10/1: Lakeshore Parks Book Lovers Night, 5pm-7pm
10/13: Hey Bear Cafe Sunday Market, TBD

The best part about visiting Good Girl Books and seeing Little Miss Smuttie is that you truly get to find new businesses within the community that you may not have known about before and you get to meet fellow book lovers. My favorite thing I’ve been able to do since discovering Good Girl Books is to take my daughter to the pop-up events and spend quality time with her doing something girly and fun while visiting new places around town! We have found it’s something we can do together and hopefully my daughter wants to continue it for years to come.

If you find yourself free on the weekends coming up, plan a visit to see Good Girl Books. You can find out more information on instagram here.
