Our Salt Spa offers drug-free respiratory relief for the whole family! The Salt Spa at Traditional Health Clinic is East Tennessee’s first and only Salt Spa, providing the benefits and healing effects of Salt Therapy. The Salt Spa rooms are microclimate-controlled, allergen-free environments, providing a constant flow of dry, aerosolized salt.

My name is Karen Vacaliuc, and I am a birth doula, connecting families through birth. I offer doula services in the Anderson, Knox, Morgan, and Roane Counties. I am passionate about mothers, babies, and family. I also have a deep desire to empower women through positive experiences of pregnancy, labor, and childbirth.

I know that the support I can give to mothers-to-be and their partners, during pregnancy and childbirth, can help make their experience less stressful, more informed, more comfortable, and more satisfying. One quote that I have read before stays with me. “The motherhood ideal is impossible to achieve because it ignores reality. Babies don’t need super mothers, they just need good mothers.” (author unknown) In working together with families, I hope to create a more healthy and satisfying approach to family dynamics in its early stages.

Growing a baby is a miracle….birthing a baby is an athletic feat… “a marathon of sprints”…thus your training should be designed in this format

When you reach ~20 weeks gestation, it’s time to establish care with a Pelvic Health Physical Therapist.

Your Pelvic Health Therapist will assess your body function, then design and teach you exercises to utilize as you progress through pregnancy, and educate you in coordination of your pelvic floor with breath work in preparation for delivery.

Additionally, pelvic floor therapy can help you learn how to safely optimize cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength to prepare for the demands of labor/delivery and postpartum tasks.

Main physical goals include:

  • optimize hip mobility

  • ensure deep core activation in daily tasks

  • strengthen posterior chain musculature (to prepare for lifting/carrying of baby)

  • ensure proper coordination of pelvic floor muscles synchronized with breathing

Research supports the claim that staying active during your pregnancy will improve outcomes in labor & delivery…let’s fast track your recovery and get you feeling better as quickly as possible!

Research supports pelvic floor therapy as a minimally invasive treatment option that should be used as a first-line method for treating various types of pelvic floor dysfunction.

Our classes are family focused and are designed to help families prepare for the birth of their new little one, whether you are expecting your first child or your 5th! We go over everything from pregnancy wellness, medications used during labor, how to cope with labor without medication, postpartum, and so much more!
